In 1991, a Portable Digital Workstation in High Fidelity was presented at the 31st World Conference of the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) in Hong Kong. This portable device consisted of a laptop with a DSP card and a studio-quality DAT recorder. With this portable equipment, it was possible to carry out sound analysis directly during field research. |

In 1997, the Emap sound analysis was modified to 9x/NT for hardware compatibility and with a lot of new features. The Emap sound analysis runs in many music departments and studios around the world. |
